The Real Madrid striker who is already in serious trouble because of ongoing police investigation regarding a conspiracy related to blackmailing French national team compatriot Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape, has been again put into headlines. The French publication Liberation have claimed that they have found some evidence against Benzema. There are some phone taps investigated by French custom officials.

In last January, Karim Benzema submitted all the evidence required for the court. Benzema had the decision going in his favour after his evidence were enough to clear him from suspicion.  Judge Renaud van Ruymbeke gave a clean sheet to the Real Madrid striker.

But Liberation published a report indicating that he was guilty which made Karim Benzema and his team furious. His lawyer Eric Dupond-Moretti responded to media about this report.

Eric Dupond told Media “He is a simple witness, He is the only witness in a case who appears on the cover of a newspaper as if he were guilty of a series of offences.”

“The headline is very evocative, look at the words used: ‘money laundering’, ‘organised gangs’, ‘drugs’.

“I will sue Liberation. ” Later he added to express his team’s displeasure that they will take legal action against the French Publication.

Even though Karim Benzema is clear from this record but there are serious off the field problems for the Real Madrid attacker. French national team Coach Didier Deschamps is keeping Benzema out of the nation squad because of the sex tape allegations. With Euro 2016 coming close and the French team clearly lacking a world class striker, The management is firm on their decision of not selecting Zidane.

Despite the lack of support shown by the national team, Karim Benzema has all the backing from his club Real Madrid. Manager Zinedine Zidane has stated that if he is fit enough then he will play against Sevilla.
